My neighbors, the Pacific Plate and the Eurasian have had a convergent boundary between them for a very long time. This means one of them is always getting under the other.
Last year the Pacific Plate was really getting under the Eurasian Plate's skin. Then on March 11, The Eurasian Plate snapped and caused an earthquake, a tsunami, and hundreds of aftershocks.
